On Fridays, half of the French Riviera seems to cross the border into Ventimiglia. The weekly market spreads along the Roja river and through the streets of the lower town, and shoppers from Nice, Menton and Monaco hunt for leather bags, cheeses, olive oil and Italian bargains. Hotel Posta stands only a couple of hundred metres from that market, at Via Sottoconvento 15, in the modern lower town.
The hotel has around twenty six rooms with modern interiors, parquet floors, air conditioning, flat screen televisions and safes, plus a small bar. Ventimiglia station, gateway to both Italian and French trains, is about three hundred metres away, the beach roughly four hundred, and the medieval upper town a short climb across the river. Guests rate the stay around eight out of ten, noting the practical location and friendly reception.
